Harriet is the widowed Duchess of Berrow and in much need of some excitement in her life. An opportunity arises for her stay at Lord Strange’s “party house” and she jumps at the chance…the only catch is she has to dress as a man!
Harriet ditches the side-saddle and experiences life as the young Mr Cope, without title or rank, and she finds herself becoming infatuated with the fascinating Lord Strange and his young daughter.

It is no surprise Eloisa James is a best selling author in the US, she is married to a knight and was educated at Oxford University. This reminds me of a Jane Austin novel but much more risqué (poor Elizabeth Bennet would be blushing at some of the expletives used, however) but I utterly adored it.
A romance novel with class, step back in time with Duchess by Night – I couldn’t put it down.
Available from all good bookstores.
