Hidden Identity: Chicago Blackout

Picture this – you wake up in a hotel room in Chicago with amnesia and you can’t remember who you are or how you got there. Total blackout is not just a mini one like you would have after a few too many drinks (it’s all a bit of worry really) but luckily it’s just setting the scene for the new hidden object game Hidden Identity: Chicago Blackout.

chicago blackout

In order to put together the pieces of the puzzle you must explore the city of Chicago and put together what’s taken place in order to unravel the mystery. You’ll explore 25 city scenes from your past, where your observation skills will be put to the test as you find the hidden objects which are very cleverly hidden within the hand drawn graphics of the game. Besides finding items you’re also required to replace objects back in their rightful place.

There is some fun word association when looking for objects, for example ‘it has a sole’ and the answer is a shoe. Once you’ve discovered the item it then disappears making the scene less cluttered and easier to locate the remaining items.

You’ll also find secret notes that you cleverly hid before the amnesia, maybe because you knew in your line of work this could happen to you one day, or you’re just super paranoid, whatever the reason they will provide invaluable clues to help you discover your identity and there are 50 in total to collect.

A race against time in many respects as the faster you find the objects the more points you gain. But also if you get a bit to click happy like myself, a dust cloud will appear which inevitably slows you down for a few seconds. There is also a hint option if you’re truly struggling to find an object, which the further you advance in the game does tend to happen, the only down side of the hint option is the loss of points.

Also included in between the city scene is 5 mini games which provide a nice break from the city scenes, they will test your short term memory and aim to provide additional information and act as a means of jogging your memory.

The game has 2 game modes, a story and endless mode, but you do have to find “notes” that are placed within each story mode scene to unlock the endless mode, even though you don’t need to find them to progress through the game. You’re best off to play the story mode first and collect everything, then if you still can’t get enough play the endless mode.
All in an all a classic hidden object game with clever word associations and a strong story line which will test your detective skills. have you staying up to finish the game to unravel the story of how and why you woke up where you did and determine what’s taken place.
