Stunning graphics and ants aren’t a usual combination, but the new game BugBits combines the two and makes it work in a new and extraordinary way.
The game revolves around the need to gather nectar to stay alive and defend your territory during enemy battles, players dispatch ants and wriggly creatures to successfully protect their turf (or piece of dirt as the case may be).
Each level is so incredibly different, you’ll never feel the monotony that so often occurs with typical arcade games. Levels vary between rescue, combat, defense and time tests. Each offers a new advance in the game in a new and creative way.
The game can be a little confusing until you get into it and grasp what and why you’re running around collecting golden drops and zooming in and out on pretty daisy flowers. The help button is hidden and there are no tutorials but you do learn as you go. The cyclic nature of the games means there are plenty of different game modes which allow you to switch it up each time you play.
BugBits also offers a two player mode, allowing you to face off against your opponent on the same computer. (One using the mouse, one using the keyboard) giving it yet another dimension of play.
But back to the graphics, apart from being smooth 3D, BugBits offers vivid, smooth imagery with gorgeous styling. I never thought those words would sit in a game review, but amongst the leafy greens, the stems of grass and fresh flowers- gorgeous is the one word that can describe this fresh new arcade game.
BugBits offers a unique cross between a strategy game and an arcade game with beautiful graphics and will be a clear winner with anyone wanting a fresh new style of game.
